Draft grapevine standard open for public comment
A draft standard titled ‘Quality assurance framework for planting material used in the production of grapes’ is now open for public comment and can be downloaded from the Standards Australia website.
This document seeks to establish an Australian standard for grapevine planting material and once published, people can choose to buy cuttings that meet the Australian Standard. The published standard will provide an assurance about the identity of the material (variety and clone), its health status (which viruses it does and doesn’t have) and its provenance (where the original material came from).
The closing date for comment is Thursday 13 June 2013. The standard can be downloaded here.
