GWRDC invites applications for 2014 travel scholarships – Media release

The Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation (GWRDC) is now inviting applications for travel scholarships in the first half of 2014.

‘GWRDC invests $50,000 each year in travel scholarships to assist leading grape and wine researchers develop their knowledge and skills amongst their international counterparts’, said Kate Harvey, GWRDC General Manager.

GWRDC will consider applications for travel, study tours or conference attendance that align with the wine sector’s strategic research, development and extension (RD&E) priorities and can demonstrate that benefits will accrue to the sector and/or existing research.

Successful applicants will be able to highlight both the benefit to their own professional development and the mechanism for dissemination of knowledge to industry.

The application process gives preference to those who are currently making, or who are potentially able to make, a significant contribution to research and the travel must relate to their research interest and expertise.

Applicants are advised to consult GWRDC’s Strategic Research, Development and Extension Plan 2012–17 and Annual Operational Plan 2013–14 when developing their applications. These documents are available on the GWRDC website.

The closing date for travel scholarships from 1 January to 30 June 2014 is Friday 6 December 2013.

GWRDC invests in and directs research, development and extension (RD&E) along the whole value chain ‘from vine to glass’ to support a competitive Australian wine sector.

We collaborate with our key stakeholders to coordinate and direct our investments to best address the sector’s RD&E priorities. GWRDC is funded by grapegrowers and winemakers, who pay levies on the annual winegrape crush, and the Australian Government, which provides matching funds.
