Home-brewers biggest drinkers

Australians with a soft spot for home-brew beer and cask wine are among the country’s biggest drinkers, according to research shedding light on alcohol trends. The Melbourne-based Centre for Alcohol Policy Research has found the drink of choice remains beer for men and bottled wine for women and older drinkers. But a further drilling down of figures shows home-brew and cask wine drinkers are drinking more than most, with almost a third drinking daily compared with 12.5 per cent of full-strength beer drinkers and 7.9 per cent of bottled wine drinkers, reports the West Australian.
